Kellerman started playing the flute at the age of ten. In 1981 he appeared as soloist with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. In the 28 years after this performance Kellerman has been awarded with a variety of prizes including the Perrenoud Foundation Prize at the Vienna International Music Competition.
Kellerman’s first album ‘Colour’ has just been nominated for a South African Music Award (equivalent of the Grammy’s) in the ‘Best Instrumental Album’ category. The album was mixed in collaboration with Husky Hoskulds, who has mixed artists like Tom Waits and Norah Jones and is a double Grammy- award winner himself.
Inspired by many different styles and cultures such as Latin- American, African, and Irish, Tango, Flamenco and some classical influences Kellerman takes the audience on a musical journey around the world.
Kellerman’s performances deliver a range of beautiful classical tones to jazzy and experimental flute. Kellerman has also been known to add funky rhythmic sounds and singing to his show which allows for a dynamic performance.
